MAC just released 24 new shades of lipstick in their new “Liptensity” formula. This is like the amplied formula meets the satin formula and comes in colour-coded bullets that match the lipstick inside, reminiscent of the colour coding from the Giambatista Valli collection.
A brilliant formula that pushes the boundaries of colour. Each Lipstick holds intense amounts of pigment, resulting in extreme colour intensity, clarity and vibrancy. This luxurious gelled base melts on contact, providing fully saturated colour with a satin finish in one stroke.
Blue Beat is described as a deep dark blue. It straddles the line in between royal blue and navy.
A few mainstream brands have jumped on the blue lips bandwagon, like Maybelline and Kat Von D. And MAC has released blue lipsticks before, but this one is my fave… hands down.
Most semi-gloss lipsticks become patchy in darker shades, but Blue Beat is really easy to even out. This wears like a glaze and feels great on. Sadly, although it doesn’t feather, it transfers on everything.
Having a hangover Sunday with just a hint of foundation, mascara and… blue lips. Because I can.
Doe is described as a creamy neutral brown, although I’d put it smack dab in the middle of “nude” country.
This neutral is right up my alley, a hint of 90s brown in a shade that isn’t too light or dark for my skintone.
And it is freaking PERFECT on. This feels a bit drier than Blue Beat but just as hydrating. I also found this didn’t transfer as much.
The perfect shade for a no makeup day!
Swatched 2x above, you can see how freakin’ pigmented this glaze-y beauties are.
While I don’t love the shape of these lipstick bullets as I find the slanted spherical tip to be hard to apply a crisp edge in the darker shades, I DO love this formula. It’s lightweight and almost gel-like while being SUPER pigmented and hydrating. I hope they bring this formula back in a regular lipstick bullet!
The MAC Liptensity collection is available now.
