If you’re looking for a stellar gift (or want to treat yo’self) MAC has released some amazing Nutcracker Sweet Lip Kits that are great value ($42 CAD/$35 USD) AND come in a really cool collectible box.
Nutcracker Sweet Kits come in a sturdy embellished box drawer and include sets of lip gloss, pigments, glitter, mini lipsticks, and Patentpolish. I received two kits to try, a Patentpolish and a Lip Gloss kit, and I’ll probably grab some of the mini lipstick kits on my own .
(full info on these kits here)
The Pink Patentpolish Kit contains four retractable lip crayons in pink and burgundy shades. If you haven’t tried the Patentpolish formula, it’s a semi-sheer super shiny balm-like lip crayon that is fairly hydrating and reminds me a lot of Revlon’s Balm crayons (only shinier). The formula is almost like gel and has a similar feel to MAC’s Tendertalk.
Patentpink is described as a washed out lilac.
Usually when I try very light shades, it looks patchy… but not this beauty!
Fearless is a described as a deep blue pink.
This just gives a really nice wash of pink and shine.
Hopelessly Devoted is described as a bright clean fuchsia.
This one had a bit of a gummier texture but I love the look of it. It’s almost like a popsicle lip stain.
Ruby is described as a mid-tone rose.
This finish of this was a bit drier than the others but still workable.
If you’re like me and not a huge fan of gloss because it sinks into the lip lines, you’ll love the Patentpolish formula. It really adds a huge boost of shine and tint while staying on the top of the lips.
Now onto the Nutcracker Sweet Nude Lip Gloss Kit!
This set comes with three mini Cremesheen Glass and one Dazzleglass lip gloss. These nude shades will probably work on most skintones too!
Fashion Whim is described as a light beige (Cremesheen Glass).
This nude is a bit too light for my liking. It really sinks into my lip lines and just isn’t flattering. But the formula of Cremesheen Glass is nice. It’s less sticky and think than the regular Lipglass from MAC. It has the same vanilla scent too!
Pure Delight is described as a light coral nude (Cremesheen Glass – LE shade).
I actually really like this one. It didn’t sink in to my lip lines as much and had a subtle shimmer to it. This is probably the perfect nude shade for someone with a fair, cool skintone.
Prancin’ Dancin’ is a copper shimmer (Dazzleglass – LE shade). This one comes with a brush applicator vs. the doefoot you get with Cremesheen Glass.
I’m in love! This super shiny, non-gritty glitter glass is AMAZING. It has a warm sheer copper base with a ton of multi-faceted glitters. It’s nice on its own as well as over lipstick.
Nutty & Naughty is described as a mid-tone pinky brown (Cremesheen Glass- LE shade).
This is a “my lips but better” shade for me. It just nicely evens out the texture and colour of my lips. It even has a hint of shimmer too. I like it!
Above are single swatches of each. The pigmentation is on point and… that Dazzleglass is perfect.
Since I’ve been going on and on about the Prancin’ and Dancin’ Dazzleglass, here it is on my face!
The Nutcracker Sweet Sets are available now at The Bay (Canada), Saks, Nordstrom, Dillards and MAC.
