The MAC Make-Up Art Cosmetics collection is one of the larger releases I have seen from the brand. It launched online last week and is a collab between MAC and three prominent designers/artists. I received a couple pieces to review, starting off with the gorgeous Dazzleshadow x 4 palette collab with Kabuki (Magic).
If you’ve never tried Dazzleshadows, they are a bit finicky but definitely worth the work. These are a sort of creamy pressed powder pigment that is glittery as… F. I tested both dry, wet, bare skin and over black and I’ve found the best way to use these ones.
All four are limited edition shades, shown above swatched dry.
- Humoresque: Light burgundy pearl with teal reflects
- Last Dance: Light pink pearl with duochromatic violet reflects
- Heaven Loves You: Gold pearl with gold reflects
- Letty Lynton: White pearl with white reflects
The first two I tried, Last Dance on the lid and Humoresque on the outer corner, I applied dry and experienced a lot of fallout and minimal payoff … then I spritzed Fix+ on my brush and applied damp for a much better look. This application is over just primer. I realized after this look that these shadows NEED a dark base.

I used Last Dance mostly on the center and inner lid and blended Humoresque into the crease and outer V.
Patted on damp, blended over a black base. KILLER!
That application worked so well, I didn’t even bother using the white and gold shimmers on bare skin. Here I put Letty Lynton on the center and inner then Heaven Loves You on the outer 1/3.
This is my (sad) attempt at a cut crease. I love the multi-dimensional look of these shadows. Like I said, worth the effort.
