At first I thought MAC Halsey would be identical to Melt’s Space Cake, but Halsey is a bit more of a concrete grey versus Melt’s ultra-matte blue grey.

Now I freakin’ LOVE this shade. In fact, I have been pretty obsessed with grey and greige lip shades lately. This does go on a bit patchy but I am sure that can be fixed with a bit of lip primer or even a grey liner to even it out.

Seriously though, this colour is so much fun! This is definitely making the trip to NYC with me.

If you’re not afraid to really make a statement with your lipstick, I think you should pick up MAC x Halsey, an online exclusive. I could see this making a really cool ombre lip with a nice cool purple too!

Have you ever seen such a beautiful MAC powder before? As soon as I saw the press photos for Otherearthly, I knew I had to have it. Mineralize Skinfinishes are very, very luxurious made with 77 different minerals. MSFs are generally for highlighting and to add a dewy glow to your skin (not to be confused with Mineralize Skinfinish Natural which has a bit less of a shimmer and more just subtle luminosity).

Otherearthly has three waves of colour: silver, rose and bronze. It’s slow-baked and really soft. You can wear this swirled together for a dimensional, shimmery radiant finish or use each colour solo on the eyes, cheekbones, collarbone or really anywhere.

The silver shade is a very neutral/cool silver. Unlike Mineralize shadows, this is a bit softer and doesn’t kick up any fall-out. (And yes, I did dig down a little bit on this one to see if the silver was all the way through and YES it goes all the way!)

The metallic rose shade has a shifty pink to peach duochrome quality to it that would make a gorgeous warm pink highlight.

The bronze is very close to a warm gold, just a bit deeper. This is so smooth and buttery too, a great highlight for more tanned skintones or perfect on the lid for a pop of shimmer.

Swatched 2x each, no shimmery fallout and no powdery residue. This is one of the best MSFs I own now (and I own A LOT).

I swirled together all 3 shades for on the cheeks, you can see the warmth from the bronze shade and the hint of shifty peachy pink from the metallic rose. The silver comes out a bit more in the light in the form of sporadic sparkle! I concentrated just the silver on the top of my cheekbones. And that lipstick shade… well that’s what’s up next!

That shade in the look above is Ionized, one of the Mineralize Rich lipsticks from the collection. If you aren’t familiar with the formula, it’s very lightweight, hydrating and nourishing. Shades range from sheer to translucent and often have a hint of shimmer.

The shades in Future MAC were inspired by the five elements, Ionized being the metal (metallic silver). It is quite sheer but really gives a beautiful silvery grey sheen to the lips that is very other-worldly.

Touch the Earth is a light wood brown, a repromote from prior collections. I actually received this one in a MAC sale charity bag last year.

It’s not as sheer as Iodized and it feels great on the lips. The colour isn’t exactly flattering on my NW15 skintone, but it is a great nude for people a bit darker.

Swatched, you can see how dewy these lipsticks are. They are almost like a glaze with a ton of minerals to keep your lips hydrated.

Here’s Touch the Earth on me, a bit too warm for my liking but I don’t hate it. I paired it with a really warm eye look from the Too Faced PB & J palette and a warm cheek, Becca Luminous Blush in Snapdragon.

The Future MAC collection hits stores this week in North America. Obviously I would urge you to pick up Otherearthly, especially if you’re a MAC collector. But don’t take my word for it, go swatch it for yourself!

It’s a gloss… it’s a stain… it’s MAC Versicolour! When I saw a preview of these, I immediately thought they looked like something out of a sci-fi movie.

The ultimate fusion of gloss + stain in one fluid formula that melts onto lips for a full-on glassy shine that lasts and lasts and lasts. Its balmy emollients and fresh gelled waters provide a lightweight texture that stays bright, lustrous and flexible.

Energy Shot is described as a nude pink. It goes on really, really light but as you can see from the doe-foot applicator, the stain is much more vibrant.

Now I don’t really love how this one sinks into fine lines and doesn’t really look glossy but once you blot down the gloss, the stain really comes out.

For me, Versicolour Stains really deepen the centre of my lips. Maybe it’s because I need to exfoliate? Either way, I kinda love how this looks.

From further away, Energy Shot looks like a nice girly pink gloss, and although I don’t love it from up close, I do love the effect the stain leaves. On to the next!

Tattoo My Heart is described as a bright pinky coral. The stain on this one is similar to Energy Shot, just a bit deeper.

Because of the deeper shade, this one doesn’t accentuate my fine lines as much AND it’s a bit glossier. Glosses in paler shades just don’t work on me, but this one is the perfect midtone!

I am in love with it! It’s shiny but not sticky and as it wears down it gives my lips such life.

Preserving Passion is described as a deep wine. The stain is a deep hot purple, kind of like grape popsicle stained lips!

As I thought, the deeper the shade, the better for me. This actually makes my lips look plumper and the gloss doesn’t look like it’s sinking into lines.

Pretty, right?

These are quick swipes of the doe-foot applicator. The gloss is heavily pigmented and not runny or sticky.

I left each on my skin for 5 minutes then wiped clean. The stain is still on my arm 24 hours later…

If you’re looking for a good hybrid gloss + stain, I’d suggest the MAC Versicolour Stains (in the deeper shades). The texture is a lot like Armani’s Lip Maestro or Maybelline’s Lip Elixir.

MAC is teaming up with Chris Chang from the fashion label Poesia! Now I am not familiar with Chang’s designs but he is apparently very well-known in the Shanghai fashion circuit. This collection promises a “vivid kaleidoscope of cutting edge color” and draws inspiration from Kunqu, an ancient Chinese art form.

What I do know is that the packaging is stellar and I am going to need every damn piece from this collection!

Get your fringe ready, festival season is here! And the MAC Vibe Tribe collection can help you channel your inner Coachella queen.

The packaging reminds me of desert sunsets in Arizona. It mixes bright reddish neon with turquoise in an aztec-style pattern.

Out of the three bronzing powders in this collection, Firebrush is the only new release.

Firebrush is a reddish bronze with golden sparkle. The compact has a mirror, making it perfect to bring with you for a touch of shimmer and sun on-the-go.

This powder does look quite warm in the pan, but it leaves the most gorgeous sheer bronzey gold shimmer. You can use this on your face as bronzer, on the lids as a gorgeous pop of shimmer or even over lipstick to add some heat!

Swatched 3x to show colour, this actually goes on sheer. Firebrush has some loose glitter particles which actually reflect light nicely on the skin.

I used Firebrush on my cheeks and over my nose and a bit on the top of my forehead here. It added a nice glow without looking too orange or overdone.

The five lipsticks in this collection all have the same patterned lipstick tube.

Painted Sunset is a bright orange-red in an amplified finish.

This leans more red than Neon Orange and isn’t as bright. But it is brighter (and obviously more glossy) than Scarlet Ibis.

The formula on MAC’s Amplified Cremes is amazing. They glide on very smooth, making lips look full and plump. And I have never experienced any feathering with these!

As much as I love a classic red, this orange-red is breathtaking. It pairs really well with the warm-toned bronzer.

Last fall, MAC Cosmetics released the Vamplify lipgloss formula for a limited time. Now we’ve seen this formula come back a couple times, most recently in the MAC x Brooke Candy collection, and now they are back again with the original shades as well as some new ones! I have two here for review today from the original line-up, so let’s get started!

If you’ve tried MAC Lipglass… well… this is nothing like that. It’s a longwearing, thicker gloss that isn’t tacky. The formula reminds me a bit of Too Faced Melted lipsticks only Vamplify has a bit more of a gel-like texture. What’s Going On? is described as a cool fuchsia with a pearl finish.

What I love about this is it is bright with a ton of shimmery pigment. The high-impact lacquer shine makes my lips look plump and full. It DID feather a bit and started to collect and pool in the corners of my mouth but it was manageable.

Peer Pressure is described as a cool berry with a cream finish. Did I mention these are super hydrating? The colour pigments are mixed with coconut, sweet almond, avocado and sesame which is what gives the lipgloss its high shine and rich, gel-cream texture.

Now Peer Pressure gave me a bit of trouble. It went on patchy the first time I tried it, so for photos I started with a thin layer (shown above). I actually love how this looks but it doesn’t have that super high-impact shine you get when you apply generously.

Here it is after two layers and you can see it’s starting to feather and pool around the edges. So I guess with the darker shades, thinner layers are best.

Swatches shown above are one swipe only, pretty impressive for a gloss but you can see Peer Pressure feathering and pooling together.

So that’s a hit and a miss with these two shades. I have a feeling the lighter shades and those with shimmer are easier to work with and maybe the darker ones have a tendency to be patchy.

Bouncy eyeshadows may not be new, but these bouncy Soft Serve Eye Shadows are new to MAC! And when MAC releases a new formula or product, I have to at least try it… for science, right?

“A long-wearing, non-creasing shadow with a distinctive creamy yet bouncy texture.”

So So Saucy is described as a midtone peach. It’s sheer, buildable and has lots of peachy gold shimmer. It doesnt bounce back as much as some shadows I have tried, but it does stay light and airy over time (unlike Chanel’s formula).

Although there are quite a few limited edition shades to choose from, this peachy shimmer is one of the best. You can use it as a highlight, lid shade or even to add a hint of shimmer to your lipstick.

You can see, a 2x swatch leaves enough a ton of multi-dimensional shimmer that is essentially the same shade as my skintone (NW15).

I used the Eyes x 9 Smoky Metallic palette in the crease and outer corner with So So Saucy on the lid and inner corner.

When used over primer, this is very longwearing. It didn’t even crease after a workout session!

I’m also wearing So So Saucy on the tops of my cheekbones as a highlight shade. PERFECTION!

The MAC Cosmetics All the Right Angles Contour Palettes are on sale! Yep, that’s right. These adorable all-in-one palettes landed in the “Goodbyes” section this week and are 30% off. ($33.60 down from $48CAD).

The palette I received was in the shade Dark, so I wasn’t sure I would review it. But I figure since these are being offered for a major discount, I’d give you a quick lowdown. You get three products: a Sculpting powder, Shaping powder and a Cream Colour Base. The Sculpting Powder can be used to define and slim areas such as the cheekbones, nose, forehead and jaw. The Shaping Powder is used to highlight and accentuate features like the bridge of the nose or top of the cheekbone.

Slide out the two powders, and there’s a Cream Colour Base in the bottom! These are great, sheer and buildable highlight creams. I love dotting these CCBs on the tip of my nose, top of my cheekbones or cupid’s bow for a dewy glow.

Obviously I can’t really use these on my face, but they do make for wonderful eyeshadows. Shown above are fairly heavy swatches. These are a bit sheer and very blendable, perfect for creating subtle, natural contour.

The MAC Cosmetics Eye Shadow x 9 palettes were released earlier this year and are super portable and travel friendly. These originally sold for $48 CAD but have been marked down to $42. Now the one I am sharing today, Smoky Metallic, is no longer sold online in North America but you can grab it up in stores or if you’re overseas!

Why am I sharing a palette that isn’t easily available? Because I’m a bad blogger. Haha. No really, I am in a current declutter phase and I uncovered a pile of “to review” beauty products that got lost in my life’s shuffle. But you know this will show up on Glambot, in MAC sales etc. So for archival purposes, here are my thoughts on MAC’s Smoky Metallic Times Nine.

For reference, here are the pans next to a MAC 217 brush. They are the perfect size for a blending brush, each pan weighing 0.8g. The Smoky Metallic palette is a mix of mattes, satins and heavy metals.

Simple Sensation – pinky midtone nude
Give Me Fire – taupe pinky neutral (lustre)
Black Factor – deep muted brown black (matte)

You’ll notice a trend with the matte shades as they tend to be on the patchy side. MAC matte shadows have become notorious for this. Simple Sensation has been my go-to transition shade for awhile though!

Filament – platinum silver (lustre)
Just Twigged – light grayish taupe (satin)
Carbon – intense black (matte)

I LOVE using a damp brush and applying Filament to my lid. It leaves behind a pretty, icy foiled silver.

By the Silver Moon – frosty neutralized green (veluxe pearl)
RichyRich – goldish dirty bronze (lustre)
Petrol – midtone charcoal (satin)

Now this row is my favourite. I have been using By the Silver Moon in almost every look lately. It’s one of the nicest Veluxe Pearl shades I have ever used. You’ll notice RichyRich is a bit on the chunky side here.

I used mostly the shades from the top row for this. The dark brown was a really nice outer corner shade and blended nicely.

The lid shade is a mix of Give Me Fire from the top row and RichyRich from the bottom. I applied this dry and it’s so pretty.

I was surprised at how little glitter fallout was involved in this look!

The second look is all about By the Silver Moon. This silvery-green is perfect on the lid! I added a hint of Carbon on the lash line, and although it swatches fairly patchy, it makes for a nice liner.

By the Silver Moon is perfect even applied dry. The finish reminds me of the Extra Dimension shadows, only with less fallout. I’m sad this is a palette exclusive shade.

Paired here with Urban Decay’s 1993 lipstick!

If you’re looking for a great travel palette, grab up one of these Eye Shadow x 9 combos! I am on the fence with the Smoky Metallic one, but there are some gorgeous combinations available like Dusky Rose, Amber or Pastel!

If you want your lids to sparkle like the stars, the MAC Star Trek Pressed Pigments will do the trick!

There will be three shades available on the Sept 1 launch, and the one I received, Bird of Prey is BREATHTAKING!

This super sparkly pigment shifts from emerald to olive to gold. It can be used wet or dry (but I prefer wet).

The boxes for this collection have beautiful Star Trek foil designs on the inside. Great for your stash! (What? Everyone doesn’t keep all their MAC boxes?)

I centered this look around the Pressed Pigment, applying it damp to my lid only. I then paired it with some Makeup Geek and Anastasia shadows to complete the look.

You can see a bit of the shimmer and shift in studio light. I was afraid there would be a lot of fallout because of the loose nature of this formula but it wasn’t too bad at all (just a tiny bit).

Applied dry on top, you can see it’s very very sheer, but the damp swatch on the bottom shows it’s true potential.

Another LE packaged item for the MAC Star Trek collection is the Superslick Eyeliner in On the Hunt. Ths is a warm black-brown in a dip pen formula.

This dries down wet and is fairly pigmented but not boldly dark or anything. I rarely wear liquid liner so this was a bit of a challenge for me.

You can see how slick the liner is here, leaving behind a bit of a wet look. It’s also completely budgeproof which is great for those of us with slightly hooded eyes. And that pigment, it’s so pretty!

Who says frosty lips have gone out of style? The MAC Star Trek collection is bringin’ them back in a big way!

When the collection launches on Sept 1, there will be four frosted finish lipsticks available. I admit, I was on the fence about frost lipsticks until I saw that beauty in the middle. Hello…

LLAP (Live Long and Proper) is a frosted rose gold. This one probably applied the best out of all three.

So I’m still not sure if I can pull off this lipstick but it sure is pretty. Plus I think MAC’s frost formula has changed over the years because it is super hydrating now.

The Enemy Within is a gilded yellow gold frost. I can only imagine how nice this would look on someone with a deeper skintone.

Yep, this looks bad on me. Real bad. The quality is good and it applied fairly well though!

Kling-It-On is a deep plum with burgundy shimmer in a frost finish. I know this looks a bit patchy, but trust me when I say it’s not that bad from further away.

Ugh I want to love this one so bad. It’s all the things I love: plum, sparkles, vampy. It wore pretty well for a couple hours then started to fade. And I’ll admit it took about four layers to get it this opacity.

I would 100% recommend LLAP because it’s pretty, flattering and has even pigmentation. The other two, I’m on the fence. The yellow gold won’t suit a lot of skintones and Kling-It-On is just… an acquired taste.

You probably caught a glimpse of the MAC Star Trek collection when it pre-released over Comic Con weekend. And if you’re even remotely addicted to MAC Skinfinishes like I am, these Tripping the Light Fantastic Powders took your breath away.

First, look at this cool packaging! It’s similar to the original MSF packaging, no dome here (thank goodness). And it has a Star Trek 50th Anniversary insignia on it.

Tripping the Light Powders blend together a few shimmery shades in a whirlpool-like pattern. These aren’t as soft or shimmery as Skinfinishes, they have more of a blush texture. Strange New Worlds, the shade I received, reminds me a lot of MAC’s Centre of the Universe MSF though.

I was able to swatch the top half lighter shade and bottom darker shade separately. The bottom swatch is all of it swirled and blended together. This powder deposits a nice amount of pigment and shimmer, but it’s not over the top shimmer it is more of a shimmer sheen.

On my skin, Strange New Worlds is a nice peachy, gold blush with a bunch of shimmer. The finish when blended together reminds me a bit of Becca’s Shimmering blushes.

The shimmer does not accentuate my pores and the shade isn’t too orange, which I was worried about at first. If you’re a true MAC collector, you need this in your life!

Wear time on this was a bit less than average, I saw fading around the six hour mark. But WHO CARES LOOK AT THIS POWDER! The MAC Star Trek collection drops on September 1st. I don’t have a full colour story or prices yet, but when I do you’ll see it here immediately.
